  • For any questions before or after your session, you’re welcome to reach out directly to our office via email (aloha@mauiphoto.net), phone call or text (808.793.5349). We’re always happy to help and will get back to you as soon as possible. Text is the fastest way to reach us!

  • This is probably the question we receive the most. For a family shoot we recommend that you choose 2-3 colors to dress your family members in. White, beige, pastels & neutrals are great!

    It’s much better to coordinate without all wearing the exact same thing. Button down dress shirts are a much better choice than a t-shirt. Avoid dark colors (especially navy blue and black), busy patterns, ruffles, stripes, and large logos. Most of all wear something you feel comfortable in!

    Once a session date is secured, all our clients receive a comprehensive Welcome Guide that includes detailed information on what to wear.

  • Sunrise sessions are calm, quiet, and evenly lit, with fewer crowds and little to no wind—making them ideal for a relaxed, peaceful experience. For many travelers, the time zone difference means early mornings feel easier, and young children often do especially well at sunrise when they’re rested and happy.

    Sunset sessions begin with brighter light and gradually soften as golden hour unfolds into sunset, creating warm, glowing tones and typically ending with the classic Maui sunset.

    Both options are beautiful; the best choice simply depends on your family’s schedule, energy level, and the overall experience you’re envisioning.

  • Yes—every step of the way! We guide you with flattering poses and simple verbal prompts to create natural & connected, beautiful images. You don’t need to remember anything—just enjoy the moment.

  • The best location depends on your vision. Maui offers everything from soft sandy beaches with black lava rock coastlines and palm trees, to country roads and ranch land. Please contact us, and we’ll recommend locations based on lighting, weather patterns, and your desired look.

  • Extensions must be arranged before your session begins. Because we schedule sessions around Maui’s natural light, we aren’t able to extend once your time has started.

  • Yes — while we’re based on Maui, we photograph destination weddings both throughout Hawaii and beyond. They are our favorite! Contact us and let’s talk about all the details!

  • We recommend booking your Maui photography session as early as possible, especially during peak travel seasons, school breaks, and holidays. Many families reserve their date several months in advance to secure their preferred date and time.

  • Yes — we regularly photograph large families and multi-generational groups visiting Maui. We’ll help plan the session to ensure everyone is included by capturing a variety of groupings, including the full family, individual families, grandparents with grandkids, parents with children, siblings, couples, and kids together — while still creating space for meaningful, natural moments and connections.

  • We pride ourselves on delivering a consistent, high-touch experience rooted in excellent customer service. As a Maui-based photography team, each photographer has been personally selected and trained in our signature style, so you can expect the same elevated experience whether your session is with Shayla, Tenessa, or Jamie. From planning your location around Maui’s lighting and weather patterns to thoughtful guidance during your session and cohesive editing, our focus is on creating natural, connection-driven images while making the entire process feel seamless and relaxed.

  • Maui’s weather is incredibly localized — it can be raining in one area while another nearby beach has perfect conditions. If rain is affecting your scheduled Maui photography session, we’ll first look at nearby locations with better weather. If an alternate location isn’t suitable, we’ll work to reschedule your session. If rescheduling isn’t possible, a refund will be issued. Please note that wind and cloudy skies are a natural part of Maui’s beach environment and will not result in cancellation.

  • We use Canon mirrorless equipment and top-tier professional-series lenses to ensure high-quality, consistent results in Maui’s ever-changing beach lighting conditions. Our entire team has identical equipment.

  • You’re welcome to print your images anywhere, but we do offer professional print options through our gallery to ensure color accuracy and archival quality.

  • Totally normal—and completely expected. We take a kid-led approach and allow room for breaks, movement, and play. We are all moms to multiple children, so we’re very comfortable working with kids in all ages, stages and moods. Some of the most meaningful images come from the in-between moments, not perfectly posed smiles.

  • We are based on the island of Maui in Hawaii and provide photography services throughout the island and beyond! ✈️

  • Yes — additional photographers can be added for larger groups, events, or sessions where more coverage is desired.

  • Your session may be photographed by Shayla, Tenessa, or Jamie—each personally trained in our signature style. Jamie edits every gallery to ensure a consistent, polished final product.

  • Your final Maui photo gallery will be delivered within three weeks of your session. You’ll receive an online gallery where you can select your favorites and download your images.
