Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear?

This is probably the question I receive the most. For a family shoot I recommend that you choose 2-3 colors to dress your family in. Whites, pastels, & light neutrals look great! It’s much better to coordinate without all wearing the exact same thing. Dress shirts are a much better choice than a t-shirt. Avoid dark colors, busy patterns, and large logos. Most of all wear something you feel comfortable in.

Where is the best location?

Maui has so much to offer and so many beautiful places to choose from! Contact me to discuss locations.

Can I extend the session on the day of?

Sometimes this is possible, but not always. To assure you have the proper amount of time please book the session that best suits your needs.

Should I choose sunrise or sunset?

Please note that the Sunrise Mini Session is only available for sunrise. Families with young children tend to prefer morning photo sessions, especially if they haven’t adjusted to our time zone yet. And of course, you can’t go wrong with a Maui sunset!

Do you offer Kama'aina or returning client discounts?

Kama’aina is offered on family sessions during certain times of the year.
Returning clients get a discount year round! Please contact me for more details.

You will receive an email with a link to your online gallery within three to four weeks. Depending on your package choice, you’ll get to select your photos. Then all photos will be available for high quality digital download. You can also share the link to your gallery with friends and family and even order prints from our professional print lab!

What kind of gear do you use?

I use all professional level Canon equipment. I have 2 Canon EOS R6 Mirrorless bodies. The lenses I use are all Canon “L” series professional lenses, including the RF 28-70 f/2L, EF 35mm f/1.4L II, and the RF 85mm f/1.2L IS USM DS. I also use Profoto flash, a Manfrotto flash stand and Magmod flash attachments for all those beautiful sunset photos. I will choose the best equipment based on the time of day, the amount of people attending and the location of the photo shoot.

Do you service all of Maui?

I do! Some locations have a travel fee. Please submit an inquiry to get a quote.

Do I have to order prints through you?

You have the choice to order prints through me or from the lab of your choice. Every photo package comes with printing rights. Your online gallery is connected to a professional print lab to make print ordering a breeze!

If it rains do we reschedule?

Maui has very special weather. It can be raining in one place and have perfect weather five minutes down the road! If it’s raining, I will contact you to change locations. If it’s not possible to find another place, then we’ll re-schedule. If it’s not possible to re-schedule, then I’ll refund your deposit. Wind and clouds will not cause a cancellation.

Do you edit the photos yourself?

During our photo session, there’s a creative thought process behind each photo I take. I do all my own editing because post-production is a very important part of the final product. I spend a lot of time carefully editing your photos. I make sure to edit out small distractions per my discretion (such as people in the background) and color correct each photo you receive. Body altering is not included in any of the packages.
